A week ago, I found myself facing something that frightened me more than I expected — a sudden knee injury that left me in pain and uncertainty. As I was trying to lift myself into the back of the truck, my plant knee gave out and hurt immediately. I could not straighten my leg, nor put any weight on the leg. I went to the ER and they took X-Rays and told me I needed an MRI and orthapedist. We were expected to leave for our summer trip in under a week and I was gripped with fear. Was surgery in my future? Would we have to cancel the entire trip? How soon until I could walk again? I found myself caught of gaurd feelings of helplessness and frustration, along with pain.
Through it all, something incredible happened: my faith became my anchor. The outpouring of prayers, love, and support from friends and family lifted my spirit when I felt discouraged, especially from our “porch and road family.” I cannot thank you all enough — your prayers worked! How quickly I could schedule all of the necessary appointments was nothing short of a miracle. I got things that usually take months to book, scheduled just days away. That alone told me that God was working on my behalf. Then the anticipated MRI results were far better than expected, no surgery is needed, and the Dr. made me feel so much better with a cortisone shot and things I needed to do going forward to strengthen my knee. My healing has already begun and I can now walk on the injured leg! I am walking lighter and brighter today not only because my knee is improving, but because my heart is full of gratitude to God and all the love, support and prayers I had around me!
As Jesus said in Mark 5:34: “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” I believe those words deeply now more than ever.
Steps to Keep Your Faith Strong During Trials
- Pray Without Ceasing
When pain or fear strikes, don’t retreat into worry — run to God in prayer. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 reminds us to “pray without ceasing.” I found comfort in simple, heartfelt prayers, repeated whenever anxiety tried to take hold. - Speak God’s Promises Over Your Life
Declare healing and peace over your situation, just as Scripture promises. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.” These words became my shield against doubt. - Lean on Your Faith Community
Let others pray for you and encourage you. Their faith can carry you when yours feels shaky. Galatians 6:2 calls us to “carry each other’s burdens,” and I felt the power of that when my community lifted me up in prayer. It was a powerful feeling to know all will be well with all this love and support. - Surrender the Outcome to God
This is the hardest but most freeing step. Let go of controlling the “what ifs” and trust God with the outcome. Proverbs 3:5-6 teaches, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” I knew we could adjust and would face whatever the outcome was and that made it seem doable. - Remember Past Victories
Reflect on times God has brought you through before. This builds confidence that He will do it again. Psalm 77:11 says, “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”
Final Thought:
Whatever you are facing — physical pain, emotional struggle, uncertainty about tomorrow — know this: God sees you, loves you, and has the power to heal you. My healing journey is still ongoing, but I’m walking in faith, just as the woman in Mark 5 did.
God’s healing may come in many forms — through doctors, through time, through miracles — but always through His loving hand. Keep your belief strong, surrender your fears, and let your faith make you whole.
As Jeremiah 30:17 promises: “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.
The power of prayer is real. And I thank you all so much for showing me that.
A Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being our healer and our refuge in times of trouble. I surrender every worry, every pain, and every fear to You, trusting in Your power to restore and renew. Strengthen my faith, Lord, even when the path is uncertain. Let Your peace fill my heart, and let Your healing flow through every part of me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
