Fear has a way of settling deep within us, whispering doubts about the future and making us question whether things will truly be okay. But God never meant for us to carry the weight of fear alone. His Word reminds us, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7). When we turn our fears over to Him, we step into His peace — a peace that surpasses all understanding and quiets every anxious thought.
When fear takes hold, it often comes from trying to control what we cannot. We worry about outcomes, timing, and what might happen next. Yet God calls us to a deeper kind of trust — one that rests in His goodness and perfect timing. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6). When we release our grip on fear, we make room for faith to flourish.
God is always working, even when we can’t see it. He goes before us, stands beside us, and walks with us through every valley. “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” (Isaiah 41:10). He promises not only to strengthen and uphold us, but also to use every situation for our good. The moment we stop trying to figure out how everything will come together and instead trust that God already has, we find freedom.
Letting go of fear and learning to trust God more deeply takes practice, patience, and prayer. Here are a few steps to help you grow in that trust:
- Pray daily and honestly. Tell God your fears — every single one — and ask Him to replace them with His peace.
- Read and reflect on scripture. Let His promises be the voice that guides you when worry tries to take over.
- Remember His faithfulness. Think of the times God has carried you before; He hasn’t changed, and He won’t start now.
- Surrender control. Each morning, remind yourself that God is in charge — not fear, not circumstances, not the unknown.
- Surround yourself with faith. Spend time with people who speak life and hope, and who remind you of God’s steadfast love. Our morning group is perfect for this! Every weekday morning at 7:30 a.m. eastern time on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MessagesFromTheRoad/
As you walk forward, know that fear will knock, but it doesn’t have to enter. Each time you choose faith over worry, you declare that you trust the God who holds your future. “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” (Psalm 56:3). His timing is perfect, His promises are true, and His presence never leaves you.
Final Thought:
When fear tries to take root, remind your heart who your God is — faithful, loving, and sovereign. He is already at work in your situation, already making a way where there seems to be none. Rest in His promise: “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10).
