The cross isn’t just where Jesus died—it’s where our old selves died too.
When Christ was crucified, He carried not only our sins but also the chains that kept us bound. As believers, this truth changes everything. The resurrection isn’t just a victory for Jesus—it’s a victory for us. Through faith in Him, we don’t just get a second chance—we receive a brand new life.
“The death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 6:10-11
Part One: The Old Life Is Dead
Before Christ, we were slaves to sin—bound by our past, our patterns, our pain. But when we placed our faith in Him, something miraculous happened: our old self was crucified with Him.
“For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.” – Romans 6:6
This isn’t symbolic language—it’s a spiritual reality. When Jesus died, He broke the power of sin over our lives. That means the shame, fear, and guilt from our past no longer define us. We’ve died with Christ, and now we live in the freedom He purchased with His blood.
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” – Galatians 2:20
Part Two: Alive to God in Christ Jesus
Jesus didn’t stay in the tomb—and neither do we.
Just as we are united with Him in death, we are also united with Him in life.
“Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him.” – Romans 6:8
This new life means we’re no longer powerless against sin. It doesn’t mean we’ll never struggle, but it does mean we are no longer its prisoner. We live by the Spirit, not by the flesh. We walk in grace, not in condemnation.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
Every day, we get to choose this life—to walk in the resurrection power of Jesus, to reflect His light, and to live with purpose. Not because we are perfect, but because He is faithful.
Final Word:
The enemy loves to whisper lies—telling you that you’re still chained to your past. But the truth is this: the cross and Christ’s resurrection changed everything.
Your old life was nailed there with Jesus. It no longer holds power over you. With His resurrection you are now free, forgiven, and fully alive in Him.
“So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 6:11
So today, walk in that freedom.
Leave shame at the cross.
Let the love of Christ define you and let His resurrection power lead you.
Because you’ve been crucified with Christ… and now, you truly live.
